Vacuum sealer Bort BVV-200 to keep food fresh

This review will focus on a device that is most often found in a restaurant kitchen rather than in an apartment, but I recommend paying attention to these devices, because in terms of price and utility they surpass most other household devices. From the name you could already guess that we are talking about a vacuum sealer from Bort called BVV-200. The meaning of these devices is that products (and not only) are packed in special bags, from which air is completely removed. And this does not allow the development of any microorganisms that lead to spoilage of food. Let’s talk about everything in order now.

The vacuum cleaner is supplied in a cardboard box. On the front side of the box there is a model name, a company logo and an image of the device itself, lying next to the vegetables.

On the side of the box are the technical specifications of the vacuum sealer. On one side, almost everything is written in Russian, and on the other in English. In addition, on the same sides you can see information about the configuration.

Equipment or what is inside the box:

  • Vacuumer BVV-200;
  • Manual;
  • Five vacuum bags;
  • Plastic suction tube;

I note that the vacuum cleaner in the package was originally in a pimply bag.

Unfortunately, there are few vacuum bags in the package, so you have to buy more. And I would like to say right away that the instructions say that it is necessary to use vacuum bags with a maximum width of no more than 30 centimeters. Inside the box are bags measuring 29.5 x 20 centimeters (L x W).

Appearance

Vacuum sealer Bort BVV-200 is available in only one color scheme. The body is made of good quality plastic. The device itself is quite small and compact, so I store it in a cabinet in the kitchen without any problems.

The device has a streamlined shape and rounded corners. The upper part is made of white plastic and the lower part is gray. In general, everything looks pretty neat.

There are two holes on the top of the vacuum sealer. On the left with a valve (Releasing Valve) is made to relieve pressure in the device, and on the right (Air Suction), near the “Seal” button, there is an inlet for a vacuum hose. It is necessary if you need to vacuum not in a bag, but in a special container.

There are non-slip rubber feet on the bottom of the device. In addition to them, here you can see the technical characteristics of this device.

On the sides (on both sides) of the device there are locking buttons, with which you can open the lid after vacuuming.

On the inside of the lid there is a rubber band that holds the edge of the bag during the work cycle. On the inner lower part there is a heating tape that seals the edges of the bag. Next is a clamping device for fixing the package inside the device. Under it is a removable tray.

Vacuum bags

Let me remind you that the package contains packages measuring 29.5 x 20 centimeters. On the one hand they are completely transparent, and on the other corrugated. When buying, I recommend paying attention to the fact that there would be a special notch on the bags, thanks to which the bag could be opened without scissors.

There should not be any problems with vacuum bags, since there are sellers of such bags in online stores (the same Ozon, KazanExpress, AliExpress). They are usually sold in rolls of different sizes, so you can always cut off the desired length and then solder the edges.

The sealer in Bort BVV-200 has a width of 31 centimeters and therefore you should not take bags with a width of more than 30 centimeters to it. The instructions say that no more than 28 cm, but, as it turned out, it’s just a print.

And another very important and environmentally friendly point is that the bags are made from recyclable materials.

Control

This device has intuitive controls. The control panel is located on the top of the lid. In total, it has two mechanical buttons:

  • VAC SEAL — vacuum and seal the bag;
  • SEAL — just solder the package;

Under these same buttons is an indicator that tells us about the status of the work.

Vacuuming, operation Bort BVV-200

Usually, when placing products in a bag, you have to leave a free part of at least five centimeters at the exit. If the edges are wet, then the bag may not be sealed. In addition, it is necessary to insert the bag into the device in a straightened form so that there are no creases.

We place the edge of the bag in a vacuum chamber. Next, close the lid until it clicks and press the VAC SEAL button in order to vacuum and immediately seal the bag. As soon as the indicator lights up, this means that the device has begun to operate. When the indicator turns off, this indicates that the process is over. After the process, it is advisable to pull the valve to relieve pressure and then only open the lid using the side buttons.

I would not call this vacuum cleaner noisy, but still, through the video, I will try to convey the sounds during the work process. But it should be noted that the process of work (vacuuming and sealing one bag) takes only about 60 seconds.

As a result, we get neat and tightly packed products, where there is no air. On the video (at the end of the article) I will try to show the whole process of vacuuming with sealing the package.

Unfortunately, at home there are no special containers for demonstrating vacuuming in containers. Here I can only say that for this you need to connect one end of the hose to the device, and the other to the container, and then press the button.

Sous vide dishes

After buying a vacuum cleaner, I learned about the existence of such dishes as sous-vide. I’ll try to explain briefly. This is a cooking method in which meat and fish are placed in a vacuum bag and heated in a water bath at low temperatures. Sous vide is used not only for cooking meat and fish, but also for seafood, vegetables, fruits and eggs. Thanks to the water bath, you can make homemade yogurt, tinctures and liqueurs.

Storage

Vacuum sealers can be used for more than just vacuuming food. You can store non-food products in these same bags. For example, it can be documents, jewelry, etc. in order to protect them from moisture. In addition, it happens that people use vacuum cleaners to pack clothes to protect them from moisture and insects, or, for example, to reduce the volume of stored items. In the next photo you can see what the vacuuming of the equipment of this device looks like.

No air remains in the bag even when vacuuming small items.

Care

In everyday use, you just need to wipe the case from time to time with a damp cloth and make sure that dirt does not get on the heating tape.

Nevertheless, there are situations (I will also try to demonstrate in the video) when liquid gets into the working chamber of the device from the products. And this usually happens when packaging wet products.

Such situations do not entail any problems for the device, but it will still take a little time to eliminate the liquid. Usually, after the whole process, I wipe the insides with a dry cloth, removing the pads (see the photo below).

Conclusion

Summing up, I would like to say that Bort BVV-200 copes with its tasks perfectly. Thanks to this device, you can neatly and compactly fold the products and go on a trip (to the country house, picnic). For example, the same sandwiches, when vacuumed, will remain fresh and whole, and the crumbs will be only after opening. In fact, you can think of a lot of things, for example, freeze vegetables, herbs, berries, and so on for the winter.

The vacuum cleaner can also help out after the holidays, when there is a lot of half-eaten food on the table that needs to be stored longer. If you like fish, for example, salmon or trout, then it will be very convenient to store it in a vacuum bag. And yes, in bags, their smell will not spread throughout the refrigerator. And marinating meat, fish, squid in its own juice will give a bright taste and will not oxidize products.

I hope you enjoyed this review and made your own conclusion. Other reviews on different equipment, you can find just below in the section “About the author”. Thank you for your attention!
